Which File/s to Edit?

Which file or files would I edit to change the way a news item works when it is posted? I want to make some chnages in the way the linking works in the title of the news item.

Thanks

that's very vague. i'm not sure what you are meaning by "how it works". have you looked at the template files for the news module?

As the others have alluded to, we need a tiny bit more information. Just a wee bit. Cause we can't guess what you mean.

I wish I could guess what I mean.

Actually I am not sure exactly what is wanted now but what I was trying to do is change the title of the news items so that they would not be a link to the whole title. And just be a title. I am not sure if we want to do that now, as I see no reason too, but if we wanted too how would I do that.

Also we basically have a site with many articles on deifferent subjects like movies, anime, etc. And it also has a webcomic. We also want a comments section for each subject or actually article so people can post their thoughts on it. Would any of you know any good modules to run that? As of now I am just using the news module to publish them.

to make it not a link any more, in line 132 of the index.php page of the news module

change this:

$story['title'] = $sarray[$i]->textlink().'&nbsp;:&nbsp;'."<a href='".XOOPS_URL."/modules/news/article.php?storyid=".$sarray[$i]->storyid()."'>".$sarray[$i]->title()."</a>";

to this:

$story['title'] = $sarray[$i]->textlink().'&nbsp;:&nbsp;'.$sarray[$i]->title()."";

well, the fact is that I don't know it either. I am in the opening stages of teaching it to myself, but when it comes to xoops, I am usually able to edit out things. it just takes recognition of what you are looking for, trial and error. Atleast, that's how it works for me.

I always try out things like this on myself before attempting to tell someone else if it will work though. I tried this, and it worked.
