Before Upgrading XOOPS!
There are sometime problems on upgrading and never get enough help to solve the problems for Free software and scripts. So I am always hesitating to upgrade. Anyway, I think this forum may be helpful to me on upgrading XOOPS!
I have already installed some modules, designed, configured and my site is already on test run with XOOPS script. But there I have installed is 2.0.5.2 and it is advised to update to 2.0.7 as there are security issues addressed. So, I decide to upgrade my Xoops from Scripta. Is any bugs there? Is ok? Beside I wish to back up the database and Xoops that I am using now in able to restore or back to original stage if there any problem on upgrading. Can I have any advice of how to do this? Thanks and appreciated. |

If I were you I would go to here http://www.xoops.org/modules/mydownl...cat.php?cid=30 and then upgrade from 2.0.5 -> 2.0.6 then from 2.0.6 -> 2.0.7 I wouldn't really trust scripta to upgrade.

You can make a bachup through cPanel. You can backup a specific database. And then you can either backup the whole site or you can just download all the Xoops files through FTP to back them up.

Yes, as Beldin said, I wouldn't trust Scripta on an upgrade, but then again I don't trust installer programs like that anyway due to my past experiences with them. It's best to do it yourself.
