Removing "Submit News" From Certain Groups?

I've tried this using multiple hacks from the official Xoops forum, but I always manage to kill my page, so I thought I'd try my hand here..

I want to kill the link to "submit news" on the menu for certain groups.. mainly the anonymous group, and the basic users. Is it possible to do that?

If not.. is it possible to remove the link period?

I currently do have it set that only certain user groups can submit news, but the site that I'm using Xoops for is going to be frequented by.. dare I say... idiots, who will flood my email account about the link.

In conclusion.. HELP?

The easiest way to do it is to make a block for your navigational menu. Make one for users you want to see that link, and one that you don't want to see it. Just include the link in the one you want to see it, and not include it in the one for those you don't want to see it, then set group permissions accordingly for each block. That's the easiest way to do it that I can think of.

That's about what I could think of and it wouldn't be too hard either. I did this for my main menu as I didn't like how it worked and I wanted to add buttons as the links.

Haha... It took me way to long to understand what you were talking about... shows how much web work I should do at 2am... I'll try that tomorrow and report back if it works. Thanks!

Hopefully you got it. But basically what we are saying is go to your Blocks section and at the bottom you can create a new block. Just create one using html and add the link to it you want. The go to groups and change the permissions as you see fit.

So create another block without the link and then let the emembers and anonymous people see it and let the admins see the one with links.
