Blogging with Xoops

This is continued from the PMs between me and BigJohn, since they are disabled now and I don't know if he got my last one.

Instead of using Xoops and a blog module, you might want to try using just a stand alone blogging script. Scripta has a few listed, but you can find more of them at http://www.Hotscripts.com which might do what you need them to do. Using Xoops might be more like killing a fly with machine gun....more than you need.

Thanks for that. But seen as my firewall wont let me access Xoops, thats out of the question

I am looking for a blogging script, something that just lets me post and people can comment. I have been using "CuteNews" so far.

Any suggestions on a better one? Just simple.

Isfahan.

wait, was it you that asked me about it? i could have sworn it was BigJohn....lack of sleep is taking it's toll on me lol

I use b2evolution for my blog, but I need to go back and re-do the theme for it. It works pretty well, but I still prefer b2. It was much simpler and slimmed down. I believe they dumped the project and started b2evolution, which is more complex. It's the only one I could get to convert correctly. Grrr..

thanks DJ!

My wife is a 'fledgeling' author, so what I want to do is build a little community for her and her friends - ala livejournal / blogspot. I want a forum and individual blogs. I need to be able to put some limits on the blogs though... resource wise...

I know that I can do that with WHM by creating each blog as a subdomain... but I was hoping to find something a little more automated.

Depending on what type of features you need to allow and dissallow, you might want to try out some of the bigger ones like wordpress and b2, atleast for experimental purposes.

In fact, though I posted this in the Xoops forum, ANY CMS that has the capability to "auto create" accounts, and potentially integrate with WHM/Cpanel to make subdomains would be WONDERFUL!!
