Probably a stupid question
Can anyone tell me how I set up any of the content management systems surpass provides? I want to create a couple of pages on my site that my wife can edit without using html.

Depending on what you want... you can click on the penguin in your cPanel, and install many of the systems from there.
But I find to use one of those using a database and such, works best for a whole site, as opposed to a couple of pages. What I recommend for you would be something along the lines of CuteNews, which is all PHP based, and you just add an include on the pages that you wish the content your wife posts to appear on. CuteNews is just an example.. There are many similar programs.

As for which one is the best CMS, they are all fairly decent -- however, I find the CMS portals to offer a lot more than what most people need. Mambo is the most stable version for it's simplicity and professionalism. It's very cool and clean and does look more like a website than most CMS. Mambo (in my opinion) is more user friendly than most and more business oriented. Regardless, whatever CMS you use, you can count on spending at least a whole day reading the documentation of "how to's". CMS is very tricky for most newbies without experience -- but do not let that intimidate you. As long you READ THE DOCUMENTATION, you will be okay after about a day for doing just basic page editing. I am not sure if Surpass offers some type of WYSIWYG editor -- but if they do, that is what you should really get. Email their sales department and ask them about it. After all, you will only be editing a couple of pages. But if not, then I'd choose Mambo. Stay away from the nuke's (ie: postnuke and phpnuke.) Nukes are GREAT -- however, they are not even close to being "newbie" friendly... and they eat up a lot of storage, which is something you do not need since you won't likely use 90% of the software. Not sure abut XOOPS -- but I heard it's good. Good luck! ![]()

Just wanted to add to Blaze's comments....A fresh postnuke install is about 6 MBs or so. They are not newbie friendly if you are not familiar with PHP at all, however there is plenty of help out there if you want to learn. Postnuke has a nice built in WYSIWYG editor for posting content. I think postnuke is great (better than php-nuke) but it offers alot that the average person might not want.

I am posting this here because PHP Nuke has been mentioned in this thread.
Please read this important security announcement regarding PHP Nuke. If you use it, you must upgrade immediately. http://www.surmunity.com/showthread....2027#post82027
