can't connect to db
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but since I am new I guess I'll ask it.
I downloaded Xoops and ftp'd the html folder (renamed to xoops) to my public_html folder. I made all of the necessary folders and file 777. I created a db called algtfc0_xdb and gave the user algtfc0_xoops "All" privilages. During the install, all goes well until connecting to the db. I use localhost as the db host and "algtfc0_xdb" as the db, "algtfc0_xoops" as the user name, and input the correct password. So then after inputing the info, I get all green lights until it says that it could not connect to the db, and I have to start over. I have looked over and over at the db name, user name, and password. I can't find any errors in the input. I also lookin in the MySql under CPanel and it shows "algtfc0_xdb" with the user "algtfc0_xoops" as the user, and I gave him "all" privileges. My site is new...like last night. So is it a DNS resolution problem. I can't think of why it would be accept that the logical path to xoop is using the domain name...Like I said, I'm sure it is something easy but I don't like it when things don't work and get a little frustrated. Anyway, thanks for your help in advance! |

you have to wait for the domain name to resolve, I'm pretty sure.

This sounds more like a username or password error. Check this to make sure everything in your config matches the actual database username and password. If this does not work, why not install it from Scripta in the control panel? |

I am sure that the user name and password are correct (the same username and password that i input at the MySql configuration page). I am connecting to localhost. Installing from the script would probably work, but if I am having some sort of database problem I would like to find out what it is before I go building a site...

Give installing Xoops from Scripta a shot just to rule out a MySQL error. If it works, you know you've configured the other one wrong.
If not, time to submit a trouble ticket. ![]() |
