ping Jamie - Weather Module

Jamie,

Thanks for the link to accuweather. That took care of half of the function of the broken weather module. I think I came up with something that, at least for me, takes care of the other half.

Pop over to my church site, www.dconline.org, and look at the weather block in the lower right, and then click on it for the forecast.

Let me know if something like that might work for you as well.

This is really a PM conversation, but since we don't have that anymore...

John

Hey John,

Great job with the integration. It looks great! Can you detail your success with the block? All I saw for the script small enough to fit in a block was the 245x450 script but even then it's too small. I like how you have it liinked to the larger script with the more detailed information.

I see your source code shows this:
Code:
<a href="http://www.dconline.org/modules/tinycontent0/index.php?id=26">
<img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/banner/infobox_both/language/www/US/MO/Saint_Peters.gif"
alt="Click for Saint Peters, Missouri Forecast" height=108 width=144></a>
Is that the actual code [with changes to the state/city location of course] or is there a script I'm not seeing somewhere? I was hoping you would see my post in the other topic. Since it was getting a lot of traffic, I know how hard it is to catch some posts sometimes. I appreciate you following up with it. Again, great job on the integration.

Jamie,

Here's the deal: The block is from Wunderground. They offer what they call "weather stickers" to put on your site. Only problem is, the page that is linked to is chock full of ads.

The code for the sticker is 2 lines of code: the <a href> tag for the link back to the forecast, and the <img src> tag for the sticker itself. What I did was replace the first tag with the link to the accuweather page on my site.

Probably not what they intended, but it serves my purposes rather well.

Hopefully it'll work for you as well.

John

Well, my question was going to be whether or not changing the code was a violation of their TOU for the code but from the time I started searching for the city to the time I got to the copy code page, I never once saw any noticed regarding the code. You know, saying that we can't change it to suit our needs. It does however, ask below it that you visit one of their sponsors. So, to ease my own conciense, I visited a sponsor. I didn't buy anything but I did what they asked and now I am going to use the code too.

Sorry for the all the spelling mistakes...not enough coffay.

Was going to fix them but you're only allowed to edit your posts for 15 minutes after initially posting them so I couldn't.

Anyhow, also wanted to ask if you are having problems with the Accuweather code taking like FOREVER to load? I just noticed it this morning on my site.
