Just remember that w3schools is your friend.

And I'm moving/have moved this topic into the coding forum, since that is what applies, not exactly Shared Hosting Support.

Also, a good way to validate is to first off stay away from javascript, as you've kinda said you're doing. Add it in afterwards bit by bit.

Basically, to create a validated site only takes practice. You'll get better at it as time goes on.
Yeah, I figured its more about quality then quantity at first until everything is a well oil-d machine.

w3schools?

Sorry about that .. i wasn't sure .. and also i dont' think anyone would respond if i put it there.

Yep, that is the idea I have. Go straight laced HTML for now .. then add in the java lil by lil ..

Seriously .. i love makin websites and like fixing them up and figureing them out .. I'm not a pro at all .. i basically do everything in word pad and with tutorials to an extent .. soo im learning.

Tell me to configure a Windows 2003 server .. and jam 200 onto it and connect them all up .. i can do it ...

tell me to congifure a f'ing java script calendar for my stupid site .. i would rather shoot myself ..

www.w3schools.com

The same site I pointed at you to validate from. It has huge information about keeping to code when programming. I always find their references for CSS super useful.

My recommendations to you... you should start working in XHTML transitional. It's almost the same as HTML, except you have to always write in lower case letters, and you must close all tags. (eg.. <p> to open a paragraph, </p> to close it) It's one of the things Bigjohn pointed out to you was wrong. It even includes things like line breaks (<br> should always be <br /> and images (<img> = <img />).

I hope I'm not confusing you...

And don't worry about the move.. I understand you trying to get people to see it, and that's cool.

As for me.. I'll take the calendar over the Windows server.

Hmm. As far as I know in HTML it goes <img src=""> There should be no ending tag.

There's an ending tag for images in HTML? If that were the case, it wouldn't be space / in XHTML, I thought..

And :p Mike. I was trying to be simple. OBVIOUSLY you need to declare a source if you want an image. (though I definately hate alt variables. )

In HTML no.. Example of HTML image.
<img src="boat.gif" alt="Big Boat">

Example of XHTML image.
<img src="boat.gif" alt="Big Boat" />

There is in a sense an end to the XHTML version, but it is internally as the source is declared inside of the image tag. For HTML there is no end tag what-so-ever.

The reason there is a " />" in XHTML is to declare that is the end of the image tag. Much like how <br> becomes <br />

I can explain further if you wish.

*wondered how Rai knew my name until I looked at under my username*

The center tag is no longer allowed for XHTML. You can center items by putting them in a CSS stylesheet object and using the following:

Code:
text-align: center;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
The text-align: center is required to get images to center in IE. Oddly, IE doesn't center with just the left and right margins.
