Jolie in an eyepatch and commander uniform was surprisingly hot in SCatWoT. She didn't appear until near the end though, and even then her screen-time was limited. I think I was dissapointed by that movie because I went for my AJ fix and her having a minor role and sparse screening only worsened it.

Bah, too off-topic. Not the place for a discuss of AJ or her new flick :-P
There is a guy at JMU .. who is a senior this year .. who has a very popular site .. Patrick Smith .. or somthing .. he owns http://smithappens.com .. he works for JMU for there website stuff too ..

AJ .. lets not get started .. (or start another thread) .. lol

Zeldman would say hybrid layouts (ones that use CSS heavily but rely on tables for layout) are alright if you need to use it, but I'm just against it in general.

Being that you're new however, a hybrid might suit you well until you get more experience for a CSS layout to put live, because something has to run DD in the meantime while you're toying around. Breaking sites with dev work just pisses people off (bad expierence with that here :-/).

Keep in mind though regardless, you're only bound by syntax rules in Transitional. If a person is using Strict to markup pages, logically, they should also be using CSS to position everything because alignment declarations and such are out the window. Transitional can really just go either way because you still have the option of using the old HTML presentation controls inside your tags.

Yeah I know Smitty Fun guy. He used to do web content updates for the university's newpaper site ~ thebreeze.org ... this year he took over as resident webmaster and (i think) gave the site a new layout. I'm a really not-big fan of the new layout, but Smit is still cool even though he tushie-violated the smooth old one.

He's all the way at the bottom of http://www.thebreeze.org/editors/index.shtml

Also friends with gorillamask.net, i did the layout for chokeychicken.com, and random others in the blogosphere. I used to be up there with the greats until I set about being a professional Now I'm just a nerd! LOL

PHP doesn't affect HTML documents in a direct way since the PHP is executed on load. Inspection of a PHP page yeilds just HTML. As long as the HTML that the PHP is producing and placing into the document is valid, the page is valid.

Right.

If you use PHP to output HTML, just make sure that what you output complies with the standard you're writing to.

Yep, but the validator is just picking up a majority of page errors if not all the errors from the PHP section of my index.html page. This section my 'shoutbox' is very important to my site and i must keep it but how do I get it to validate? .. if you could .. check out the validation

well, you only get 12 errors when you validate it as HTML 4.01 transitional, and most of those are due to the /> xhtml markups...
