Xoops Themes for Surmunity

So this is my thought. Since we have some good theme designers here, why not make some themes for Surmunity? These would be themes that are only available to users here, know what I mean? Anyway, I think it might be a nice project to work on, especially if we get several really cool themes together.

I'm going to put this on my imaginary calendar and get to work on a few as soon as I can.

I agree that it would be good to make some really good themes, but I would question only making them available to Surpassers, for a couple of reasons:

1. Xoops is GPL. What license would you use to prevent their distribution outside of Surmunity?

2. Many people have put their hearts and souls into that product so that we can all benefit, at no cost. No matter what I gave back to the xoops community, I would never feel like I gave more than I took. I would feel funny about creating anything for xoops, and then telling those who have given so much that it's not for them to use.

So I agree we should do what we can to create themes/modules/whatever, but I think we should make everything as freely available as xoops itself.

Just my $.02.

John

Good point. Basically the links would be here on Surmunity. That's about all. It would be more like just us providing the users here with a few themes. If someone takes them and posts them some place else, we can't do anything about that. We can put a clause on it that a link back must be kept though...sort of like Fort Chaos and 7dana does.
