moving a xoops installation...

Hi, I'm really lazy right now and it's not very urgent... So I'll just ask my question here...

How easy is it (if it is even possible) to set up xoops on my main site, laogaming.com in a folder somewhere and get it all set up how i need it and tested/etc, and then transfer it to a whole nother domain (such as knightsofaridia.com... not registered yet), and keep all of the settings, users, template settings, news, etc...? if it easy or can be done... how would one go about doing that... I dont want to start getting it all set up how I like it now if I cant transfer it... thanks in advance...

Dew,

I haven't done it, but I know it can be done. There are numerous threads about it over at xoops.org.

Failure is not an option. It comes standard with all Microsoft products.

Simple. Just change the config file (mainfile.php) once you move it. Make sure you have the cache, templates_c, and uploads folders chmod'd to 777 and the mainfile chmod'd to 444. After that it should recognize it all. If you need help, just let me know. I've done it many many times. I always build my site in a test folder, and then move it later when I want it to go live.

Cool thanks... Now I'm not sure if I'll be building this site so maybe I won't have to worry about it. But I am pretty sure I get everything you say, djsckizo

Cool deal :thumbsup I'm going to write up a bunch of Xoops FAQs for Surmunity I think (an idea that popped in my head last night), and this will be listed in it.

Well it turns out that I won't be needing to make this website after all... But I know I'll have to remember this for in the future.
