I'm actually going to be using Newbb on Lindavester.net, but I haven't gotten it set up yet. I'm going to have to reskin the whole thing. Currently I'm using Invision, but since it's going to eventually require a license, I don't want to get one for a board that does have 800 users, but only around 100 posts. Seems sort of pointless to me. Newbb2 looks great though. I hope I can get everything moved over to it correctly.

yes my site has over 600 users and i have not any problem but there is 2 points:
1- this forum release in RC version so has some problems like low speed.
2- a problem in search function occure with a lot of registered users and online users( more than 10000 users and 100 online )

all these problems solve at the final version i hope release soon

The more I play with it the more I like so I think im gonna go with xoops, xoops.org has thousands of posts and it seems to handle it fine. Now for themeing it.... is that difficult? I know there are many themes out there but I wanna take one and modify it to my site, is this a long and complicated process or pretty easy?

It isn't a short process, I can tell you that. It's all css and html, so it's not that complicated.

A couple sites I've done with Xoops: http://www.lindavester.net http://www.ncunderground.com

I've had to modify the template parts of some of the modules themselves, and added new css code to make some parts of it.

I suggest taking the original default theme and changing it. That's what I do. All of my themes are based on the default.

I moved the thread to the xoops forum. Maybe you'll get more responses in here.
