Xoops performance on Surpass

Hi,

I'm considering developing new Xoops site on Surpass. The Surpass hosting plans look great. However, I've noticed quite a few recent posts in this forum, regarding slow load times, web sites that won't load at all, and problems with the servers. Do these problems occur frequently?

I'm especially wondering about the experiences of other xoops users, especially who use a shared Surpass hosting plan (with moderate to high traffic).

How efficiently does Surpass handle a moderate to high traffic Xoops site?

Thanks for any information,
Dave

I run both of these and have never encountered any performance problems on Surpass.

Lindavester.net

North Carolina Underground

Note: NCU isn't trafficed much, but load times aren't bad. LV on the other hand recieves a bit of traffic (usually during or after her show), but I haven't noticed any performance problems or long load times with it either.

Hi djsckizo,

Your sites look great. Thank you for the information on load times. I'm hoping that my Xoops sites will at least have moderate traffic.

It is difficult to find much information on how Xoops performs under different conditions (traffic, hosting plan, etc.). However, what you've told me sounds encouraging.

Dave

Your site should operate fine as any CMS site would on our servers. We also have a 90-day money back guarantee.

Thanks Dave. From what I have heard, Xoops doesn't run as well on a Celeron based system...lucky for us, we use Dual Xeon. :P

Oh, and I too...am Dave.

BigJohn is ambidextrous when it comes to Mambo and Xoops.

I run a xoops site on a shared server here and have no problems.

http://www.dariusmusic.net has a lot of visitors each day, especially at the moment with the album launch :p

Another Xoops site that's been working well

This site has been working well on Surpass for a few months. Ski season over down here in Oz so not much traffic at the moment. MySQL on Surpass caches SQL queries from what I can gather (on Pass5 at least) and you can set up Xoops to cache as well (which is why I like it better than Mambo).....

http://www.eumarellah.com.au/

This Xoops has a hacked up menu system.... I'll do anything for a client!
