Good morning to those of you in the EST, and hello to the rest.

We are beginning the hardware swap of Dior as promised in the previous post.

We are looking at no more than 1 hour of downtime or possibly less. We will update you once all work has been completed.

Thanks,

Hello,

The hardware swap went really smooth, with just a couple of small issues taking place along the way, that got fixed quickly.

As of right now, the server load is really nice, and everything is working perfectly.

If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to send in a ticket.

Best regards and lets cross our fingers and hope that this is the last we hear of Dior problems for a long time to come

Hello,

Just to keep everyone updated:

After replacing the hardware, our techs noticed that dior once again had a kernel panic. Assuming the reason for the error was faulty memory, we took the machine down and replaced the RAM - only to find that it was now reporting system bus errors. We are unsure of the cause of this. Right now we are researching and troubleshooting the machine. I will update this thread with more information soon.

Hello,

After a day worth of troubleshooting Dior, it seems that the hardware swap was completely ineffective, and only ended up causing more problems. Prior to the swap, Dior was up for 3 days without any issues; after the swap, we were able to get the machine to hold up for no longer than a couple/few hours.

With that said, we have swapped it back to original hardware, with different RAM, again.

We will be holding a small meeting and discussing as to what the next steps for this server are.

I terribly apologize for all the issues you've been experiencing with this server, but believe us we are trying our best to get everything resolved.

We'll update you once further news are available.

Thanks,

Good news everyone.

We successfully swapped the hardware today on Dior from the original dual xeon setup to a brand new and better setup - a dual core opteron with 2GB's of DDR2 RAM.

This a brand new server, that is quite a lot faster than what Dior was originally on. We all truly believe that this should be the end of all the issues with Dior, as everything in this setup is brand new out of the box, and a whole lot better as well.

We apologize for the outages, kernel panics, and general inconveniences that you all have had to put up with, this should be the last you hear of them.

[rootdior named]# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Dual
model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 1214
model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 1214
