At the moment, both dns7.surpasshosting.com and dns8.surpasshosting.com are rather screwed up. Neither is responding to DNS lookups. They've been broken for well over two hours now. (It's not just DNS, BTW...both machines are accepting TCP connections on all the common ports, such as 22, 25, 80, and 110, but nothing happens. E.g., connect to 110, and you don't get the usual greeting from the POP server, and so on).

dns7 and dns8 are in the same datacenter (theplanet.com). In fact, they are even on the same subnet there.

dns7 and dns8 happen to also be the primary and secondary name servers for several domains hosted by Surpass.

Doesn't having both name servers for a domain be at the same location violate good design?

(Yes, I realize that it probably doesn't matter that much, since the domains that are affected seem to be hosted on those machines, so with the machines hosed, the domains would not be working even if the name servers were OK. Still, I think I'd rather have someone trying to get to my domain have it fail because the server is not responding, rather than fail because they cannot look up the name)
