Domain Help

Hi, i bought a Standard hosting package from you last year and we transferred a domain to it which we already had registered. However my co-owner did this and I need to transfer another domain to my host now.

The owner of the domain has already changed the DNS details to mine, but how do I manage it and get the domain (www.knight-templar.net) to work for me?

Do I need to buy one of these "Add-on Domain" things? If so how and where?

Sorry if this didn't make sense lol, I'm not very technical when it comes to this stuff.
Thanks.

In cPanel, under general account information, it will tell you how many addon domains you have and are using. For me it says "Addon Domains: 2 / 3", meaning I am using two addon domains and have one more available.

If you need an extra one, it's $15 one time, using the addon form: http://www.surpasshosting.com/addon.php

Then go to Addon Domains in cPanel and do what it tells you and you'll be set. Post back if you have any problems.

thanks.

before i try that though;

i went to surpassdomains.com and clicked "Transfer Domain", i typed in the domain we're trying to transfer and it said it was available for transfer. it then gives me a page to pay for it.

Can I just transfer the domain this way or is it better to buy an add-on domain and then do it through cPanel?

its not necessary to transfer the domain to surpassdomains for this to work., although if you'd like go ahead.

no matter it will need to be added to the hosting account as an add on.

hopefully that makes sense.

ok then ill pay the $15.
couple more questions:

do you know how long it will take for the domain to be transferred?
will i use the same cPanel as i am now or will i need to use a new one. this doesnt make sense i know. :/

My current cPanel is www.rpgcn.net/cpanel so will my new URL for the new domains cPanel be www.thedomain.com/cpanel or will it all be in the same cPanel?

sorry im confusing myself too lol

You'll use the same cPanel. On a shared package an addon domain is treated basically the same as a subdomain (it's a folder inside public_html, etc.).

I'm not sure what you mean about transferring domains... a domain you bought anywhere will work, as long as it has the correct nameservers. Nameserver changes can take 24 to 48 hours to propagate, but if you already have the nameservers set up, adding the new domain in cPanel will usually just take about a minute.

oh ok then.

the domain i want transferring is owned by a friend, and I've already given him the nameservers and he's changed them already.
