IP Changes : ns100/ns101

What's happening?

We have recently acquired our own IP space directly from ARIN. Over the next few weeks there will be a massive IP migration for all servers in our data center, including dedicated servers, shared hosting servers, and reseller servers.

Basically this means: The IP address of your server is changing.

As we introduce Level3 as a new provider in our data center and improve our network overall during the next few weeks, this IP change is the only part that we need help with from you. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Remember, this IP change is PERMANENT and they are never changing again.

Will more announcements be made for us?

1) Shared hosting and reseller hosting customers: We will put the new IP in the proper board for your server in Server Announcements. We will edit all of the boards to reflect the new changes as soon as they happen.

2) Dedicated server customers: You will each be emailed with proper instructions to make the IP migration seamless for you.

Do I need to do anything?

1) If you are a shared hosting customer: YES you just need to change your DNS IF you use ns100.dizinc.com and ns101.dizinc.com as nameservers.

2) If you are a reseller hosting customer: YES if you use custom DNS. And YES if you use ns100.dizinc.com and ns101.dizinc.com as nameservers.
For anyone using custom DNS this will be a critical step because if you do not update your DNS IPs to the new IPs, your sites will go down. We will give 7 days before the old IPs are taken offline to ensure enough time is given for proper changes. Domains now resolve very quickly so we feel this is sufficient time.

If you are using our DNS, such as ns#.dizinc.com or ns#.surpassdns.com, then you have nothing to worry about. We control the changes for those DNS and this IP migration will be seamless to you. You need not do anything or make any changes.

Extra Notes
If you are using the server IP to connect to mail servers or web servers, you must update that IP to the new IP. FOR EXAMPLE: If you are using a server IP to FTP or log into cPanel, we suggest that until the IP change is clear to you, that you use the domain name instead.

Example:
For FTP use: Use ftp.yourdomain.com vs. IP address
For cPanel: http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel vs. http://server.IP.here/cpanel

RESELLERS:
If you are a reseller customer: Remember that you don't have to do anything in WHM. The only thing you need to do is change the IPs that your custom DNS point to. You do this wherever you registered that domain name, just as you did when you first "registered" the custom DNS. Now you will be updating your existing custom DNS settings at your domain registrar.

Secondly, if you use WHM AutoPilot, you will need to change the settings to reflect the new IP in order to install new accounts.

If you are a regular forum member and read the server announcements you more than likely know this information already. But if you are unsure at this time, please use these instructions to find out which server you are on.

Please go to this site:

Replace YourDomain.com with your domain that you host with us.

Next you should something like this on your screen:

Ping #1: Got reply from 66.194.40.51 in 49ms [TTL=50]
