You can edit your hosts file to point the domain to the server.

Windows XP it should be in windows\system32\drivers\etc

open the hosts file in notepad, and add in your domain.com and the server IP how the localhost is set up

a nice solution that i use:

Set your computer to use the following name servers instead of the ones automatically assigned by your ISP

4.2.2.1
4.2.2.2
4.2.2.3
4.2.2.4

This is what I use on just about everything. If i remember correctly they are owned by verizon, and i have found them to be quite stable

Just FYI - if you look at what you've done, you've never OPENED the command window. And your dnsflus won't work - it's flushdns. But by not opening the command window and just typing it in like you did (documented by your screen shot) would not allow you to see the error. Even using the /K switch does not guarantee this...

The command to purge your local DNS resolver is:
ipconfig /flushdns

It must be typed into an OPEN command window, or you cannot see the results.

Typing 'cmd /k ipconfig /flushdns' does indeed bring up a command window and displays the results.
