Hello. I tried to transfer a domain name to Surpass (24 hours ago) and a verification email has not arrived at the domain's admin contact address. The domain is LiveOnSite.com. I also logged into the DNS management tool at Network Solutions (the old registrar) and changed the DNS record to point to DNS33.DIZINC.COM and DNS34.DIZINC.COM. I did that 15 hours ago. The hosting is all set up and works fine with the temporary address. While the DNS has not propigated to my ISP's servers, I called Nework Solutions, who does have updated records in their DNS, but they say they get a "page not found" error when trying to go to the site.
Whats going on? Why have we not recieved a verification of transfer email from Surpass? thanks. bob |

we will take a look for the new verification email. i am not too familiar with the transfer process. I thought if I changed the name servers in the DNS administration on the other registrar, one of two things would happen when someone tried the address:
1) if the new info has propigated to their ISP's DNS servers, they would get the new host 2) if the new info was NOT yet propigated to the ISP's DNS, they would get the old host. Maybe im wrong, is it more complicated than this? Is this why we are getting "page not found" errors after I updated the name servers? PS- after the transfer goes through, is there anything else we need to do or set up? Thanks! bob |

You are supposed to see the old host. In between, you could get page cannot be displayed errors. Then after the DNS resolvement is complete- new host.
On the other hand, someone who changes their DNS might never see page cannot be displayed. At one point they will check and see the old host, and the next time they check, boom- new host. Anything could happen. It could all work in 12 hours. It could take 80. It all depends on your ISP and the networks you are connecting from.
