Angry

I have been looking and looking to see a button, link or some other flashing light guiding me in the right direction.

Can someone tell me how to do it there? Prefferably, someone that has done it there recently?

Thanks.

There should be a Register Nameservers in the same place where you click Modify Nameservers.

Thanks, Jack.

Hello,

I went through this myself a few months ago. However, my brain is advancing in years much faster then I realized and perhaps I do not recall everything exactly right all of the time I hope this will be useful.

After you login to your Godaddy account procede to a domain you wish to "register" a nameserver for. (Remember this is NOT the same as changing dns.) This page will be called "Domain Details".

Scroll to the very bottom of the page and look for "Domain Host Information (click here to add). And of course click there

Now you will see the page where you need to add the name sever. The domain is already there so you need only put the first part of the name server address and the ip address. Then click on "Register Nameserver"

If you have a problem you can contact Godaddy support by email or by telephone.

ok, i found it on Godaddy...

so, according to the "All About Custom DNS" in the Support FAQ section of Surpass Hosting:
"Just like the DNS we give you in the activation email, they'll need 2 IP numbers and 2 names you want to use (ns1.yourdomain.com, ns2.yourdomain.com)"

The IP address is the IP of the domain?
For example, if i have crappydomain.com registered, and also have it hosted with SurpassHosting, i use the IP of crappydomain.com?

If so, that's just 1 IP. where does the 2nd IP come from?

Yes, the two IPs and you just follow the instructions above.

If you can't get into your client area, PM me with your domain name..

hmm... i changed my DNS to point to my own "custom" DNS, which uses the same IP as the surpassdns servers from my welcome email. but now, none of those domains that use those "custom" DNSes work anymore (page not found)...

details:
i found my surpasshosting welcome email with the 2 DNS servers. They were:

ns8.surpassdns.com
64.191.95.115

ns9.surpassdns.com
64.191.95.116

so i took those same IPs, and created (with godaddy.com, it's under "Domain Host Summary" under the "Domain Details" under my main domain name that is hosted, as a reseller, with surpasshosting)

are these IPs correct?
when I ping ns8 and ns9.surpassdns.com, i get:

for ns8: 66.246.38.6
for ns9: 66.246.38.7

so.. did the IPs change? Do i need to use THESE IPs for the custom DNS (under the main domain name, that is with surpasshosting)?

thanks.
