There's not really much I can answer. All I've really done is set MX records, which is literally pretty much all you have to do. In terms of setting them, I think you may need to contact Surpass unless you have control of the DNS yourself, in which case, Google provides all the information you need to do it.

For those looking to move their mail from a Surpass (or other IMAP enabled account) to the Google Apps accounts, I've found the free IMAPSize program made it very easy: IMAPSize and very reliable. I tried the IMAP to IMAP move in Thunderbird, but found that not all mail made the transfer.
With IMAPSize I simply made a backup of my Surpass account to my PC and then "restored" the mail to the Google servers. Once all mail is moved, simply change the MX CNAME records. The added bonus id a backup of your mail locally and the ability to manually backup, and if required, restoring your Google Account. Good luck! Edit: Here are the directions to automate your backups: Command line Backups IMAPSize allows you to perform backups invoked from the command line. This enables you to run IMAP backups from a script. You have to provide the -backup switch and specify the account you wish to backup as the parameter of the -account switch. For example, to backup an account named "test_account", you would invoke it like this: imapsize -backup -account=test_account Last edited by kwright510; May 21st, 2008 at 8:09 PM.. |
