Telling DNS to point to new IP address?
We have our domain name registered through another company. When we tell them to point it at the new Surpass shared-hosting version of our site for the cutover, do we tell them to point it at:
http://00.00.00.00/~username/ OR just http://00.00.00.00/ and Surpass figures out which user's stuff to show based on the domain name, which it knows is ours? THANKS! Andrea (where, obviously those 0s are replaced with the actual shared server IP and the username is replaced with our actual Surpass username.) |

The DNS codes you got from surpass (ex. 233.dnzinc.com) should point to your domain...if you put them in, you wouldn't need to use your IP address? Just change the nameservers where the domain is registered with the DNS codes that Surpass gave you.
Hopefully that answers your question. =) |

OH! Okay, I didn't realize that was what those were for, so my eyes just kind of skipped over them.
I don't have access to the DNS registrar because someone else registered the name for us quite awhile ago; just wanted to be sure of what I tell her.Thank you! |
