Pointing domains from other registrars
I have a domain registered with 1&1 and I'm trying to set it up as an addon domain that points to a directory in my account in Cpanel but I'm not sure what I should set on 1&1s side.
Do I need to change the nameserver to a surpass name server? If so what server address do I use? I don't see a DNS service listed in Cpanel. |

Change the nameservers to the same ones as what is on your main domain.

The main domain I have listed in my cpanel actually does not point to my surpass account (I just use the server name URL).
Both domains are registered with 1&1 but my main domain that shows up under my cpanel points to my hosting account with them which I'm keeping for the time being. The other domain I registered with them is the one I want to point to a certain directory in my surpass account. Under my 1&1 account settings, I manually set the DNS IP address for the domain I want pointing to Surpass to that of the server that my Surpass account is located on. So far it takes me to the exact IP address of the surpass server (and I get the page that cpanel has been configured correctly) but I need it to point further to my /~username/other_directory Under my 1&1 account, it tells me to specify the home directory for the domain destination so I set it to /~username/other_directory. Is that step needed even if I've set it as an addon domain in cpanel that points to the specific directory in my cpanel account? |

Whatever this second domain is that you want pointing to a folder on here, you need to add that as an add-on domain here such that it's root directory will be /public_html/addondomaindir/

allright, I added it as an addon domain and told the registrar to use the surpass name servers that were given to me in the welcome email I recieved. There's one minor issue that I've run into however.
When you hover over the links at the top (automatically generated by the CMS which is MODx) the link displayed is http://pro-poor-et.org/~myusername/d...e/documentname. The link works when I remove the /~myusername/directory_name but why are the links being generated like this? I don't think it has much to do with the CMS I'm using and I was wondering if there was another reason |
