Domains with special charecters
Reacently in Spain we had the possibility of registering domain names containing our spanish character "ñ".
For example, the domain http://www.elniñoperdio.es/ es valid and you can acess there normally. But when I try to make a domain like that as a parked domain for my site, I won't be able to do it. I have to add it as xn--tokiohotelespaa-crb.com for example. People when entering tokiohotelespaña.com will be correcly redirected to my site, but the url will change to that ugly thing. Is there anything to do there, or will I have to leave it like this? Thanks |

The url should not be changed in the visitors browsers - the domainname should be elniñoperdio.es and nothing else if the visitors are using Firefox or Internet Explorer7.
If they are using IE6 the domain will not be found as IE6 can't handle special characters for domainnames. Please check that You are not using some kind of redirect or maybe installed a script via Fantastico like Wordpress. If You installed for instance Wordpress the name xn--elnioperdio-4db.es is saved in the database for Wordpress, and is than used by Wordpress. In that case You will need to edit the database to use elniñoperdio.es instead. (and maybe some configuration file too).

I'm using Firefox, but that's not the problem.
I 'll explain it better. My domain is http://tokiohotelespaña.com If you enter that, the URL will change into TOKIO HOTEL SPAIN - www.tokiohotelspain.com because that is what I had to write in Cpanel in order to have it as a parked domain, because it won't accept special characters.

Hello! Ok, that is strange - I have added alot of domains in Cpanel with special characters.
For an example I added Code:
xn--kksteam-90a.se Code:
http://www.köksteam.se (My example is a swedish character and I'm not sure if You are able to see it correctly though)

Maybe it''s because the special character ñ in URLS was added only some monts ago and it's still not supported...it's a special character only used in spanish (we also have ü)
Maybe nobody has taken that in account When I try to add a domain with ñ, it sais that I can't type any special characters...
