How is that rediculous? They're not a domain registrar as their business type.

Most people may more in a month for their hosting than they do for their annual domain registration fee.

if I am not mistaken network solutions still charges pretty much the same price as they did when they started.

I believe you're correct. I remember paying $35 a year for a domain back in '98 and '99. Then I switched to Godaddy and pay roughly $8 a year.

Also some of the pricing has to deal with who they are trying to target. I believe Godaddy is geared towards the average joe and therefore have a wider audience. So they sacrifice the larger profit margin by attacking an untapped resource.
