What it sounds like that she was trying to enter the IP addresses it lists on the add on domain page. You should set your add on domain's nameservers to the same as your main domain for the account.

Give that a shot.
Some registrars require the target DNS server to report that the requested domain has a record in that dns zone before they'll let you enter your NS.

This is because it is the REGISTRAR who is the authoritative name server, and it is the one responsible for propigation.

I am having trouble getting this to work for site. I have a domain that I want to point to a subdirectory at my site. I have tried doing this a couple of ways but don't get the results I want. My new domain is togetherapart.com and I want it to point to the subdirectoy: http://MySandbox.net/courses.
In cPanel, I click the Addon Domains box and enter the following:
  1. In the New Domain Name: box I type togetherapart.com
  2. In the Username/directory/subdomain Name: box I type: leblanc/public_html/courses
  3. I leave the Password: box blank

I get the following error message:
Quote:
Addon Domain Additions

The subdomain, leblanc.mysandbox.net has been added.
You do not have access to park on top of leblanc
The subdomain, leblanc.mysandbox.net has been removed.
togetherapart.com could not be setup. The subdomain leblanc/public_html/courses.mysandbox.net was not setup either.
I tried doing this another way with an unexpected result.
  1. In the New Domain Name: box I typed togetherapart.com
  2. In the Username/directory/subdomain Name: box I typed: mysandbox.net/courses
  3. I left the Password: box blank

This resulted in the domain togetherapart.com being parked to my root directory http://MySandbox.net rather than redirected to the subdirectory http://MySandbox.net/courses

Addon Domains Problems solved

I'm replying to my own post for anyone else reading this who has experienced a similar problem. I found the directions a little too confusing for Addon Domains. The quoted section below is how it tells you to add on a domain.
Quote:
New Domain Name:
Username/directory/subdomain Name:
Password:
The first line New Domain Name: and last line Password:, are obvious. Not too much chance of screwing this up. However, the second line
Username/directory/subdomain Name:
is confusing; at least in my opinion. All that you need to type is the subdirectory name and not the whole path to that subdirectory as the prompt would indicate.

I have a domain called togetherapart.com that I wanted to point to a subdirectory I created at my site http://MySandbox.net/togetherapart/. When this kept screwing up, it was because I kept entering the whole path. As soon as entered the subdirectory name alone, instead of the whole path to it (togetherapart instead of leblanc/mysandbox.net/togetherapart), it worked perfectly. :confused3
