Okay, I seem to be having the same problem. I purchased www.nbgames.com well over a year ago from register.com. When I learned about surpass hosting, I let the domain expire and decided I would register with surpass. When I tried to register it under surpass, it said the domain was not available, so I did a transfer. Everything went through ok, but I have only received one email (from surpass). Register.com has sent me nothing, and the transfer status is still on the same step after 4 days. I hope I didn't mess anything up by trying to transfer an expired domain? I hope this can be fixed soon. Having an unresolved domain is really annoying. Can't play with all my cool new server side tech.

Ok, here's the thing.

1 -When a domain expires, it is in LIMBO for about 30 days.

2 -You cannot transfer a domain within 60 days of expiry.

3 - there is no need to transfer a domain to surpass unless you're getting a better price from them than your current registrar.

Ohhhh ok, thanks for the info. I was switching to surpass domains because register.com places ads on your site if you don't use their hosting AND domain. I went through a third party DNS which forwarded links weird. I thought I would save myself some trouble by hosting at the same place I registered my domain. Oh and yeah, surpass is a little cheaper than register. In fact, they were charging me more to renew than the original price I paid for the domain.

Anyway, thanks for the info again. That 60 days should be up pretty soon. Since I have already been charged and the transfer is "pending", will it automatically go through after that period, or will I have to do something to initiate the transfer again?

Register puts add ONLY on parked domains.

At Register, you change your primary and secondary name servers (or DNS servers) to the surpass servers you were given. Then any request for your domain goes straight to surpass.

You need to get in touch with support and get a refund - unless they can confirm that the transfer is happening.

If the transfer is NOT happening, get a refund and post a big post-it on your computer to RE-BUY the domain on the day it expires...

Wow, what a mess. I didn't even bother with a whois for our old domain before attempting to transfer. In an attempt to figure out what is going on, I just did. Seems that somebody (www.noldc.com) has bought it up. They seem to be a domain escrow service.....I'm not even exactly sure what that is. Looks like a pointless middle man to me. Should I contact them? Should I just come up with a new domain name? I'm really lost.

Forget it. This is way more trouble than its worth. Can I somehow apply the money I paid for the transfer toward purchasing a .net?
