Go buy it now... just remember to pay for private registration next week when you get paid. You'll be sorry if you don't -- trust me!! :p

Look, domains are what they are. You go to the grocery store to buy groceries -- some places have cheaper prices -- but basically they're all the same store and sell the same ol' crap, don't they? Domains are no different. Just get it. I'm outta here.

I personally saw no reason at spending the extra money for a private domain. And I've never had any calls in regards to the domain, or any other kind of contact from it. Yes, I get spam email, but that's more from having the email address posted places than anything else.
But yeah, just buy the domain somewhere. I use GoDaddy and 123-reg.co.uk myself.. The only other registar I've been with was someone selling from Enom, and that was sticky since the place I bought it from was like.. bought out or something (lost my hosting when that happened... >_<) and they locked my domain the couple weeks before it expired, so when I went to transfer it, it wouldn't. And then they tried to convince me to renew with them, meanwhile I'd already given money to GoDaddy. Took a few to-the-point-almost-nasty emails to straighten it out. As long as you have control over your domain, it doesn't really matter where you get it from.

www.namecheap.com offers free whoisguard (same as private) for free with domains now. And they charge 8.88$ for the domains. I have a couple registered there for myself.
