Unhappy A Designer With LOTS of Questions

Hello everyone! My name is Nikki and I am a college freshman who has been dabbling in website designs and so forth for about 4 years. I taught myself HTML, Java, CSS, but I only ever used Y! Geocities or Angelfire to host my sites or I would do all the nitty gritty coding and give the notepad or .txt/.html documents to my friends. Well, my room mate loves what I do and we decided we should get our own domain with our own website, e-mails, and such. The pricing for surpass was incredible, so I've purchased the domain and hosting. I'm starting to learn cPanel, but I am still really confused.

Particularly, on the web mail. I don't know what I am doing at all. I saw I can make e-mail accounts and such, but how do OTHER people check them? Because, whenever I log into check it it asks for the cPanel information and I don't want to give that out to any one else. If anyone could direct me to a mini-tutorial or post one. I would be sooooo happy. Thank you. I didn't know where else to put this, so I figured this was okay? If the thread has to be moved, that's fine.

Well, others can go to "yourdomain.tdl/webmail" and login there, or they can check it through any other POP3 program (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)

If you need guidance on that, I'll reply with some instructions.

Welcome to Surpass!

You'll find that we're a very helpful lot. With patience, everything works out great.

Good thing that you are all helpful, because I will be lost for a bit...

So, Haughland... I'd set up an account for say- my room mate. Then she would type http://domainnamehere.tdl/webmail then she could type in the username and password I had defaultly assigned her initially? I'll have to try it later, but instructions might be just- BEAUTIFUL and I'll love you forever.

Thanks for the welcome!

That's correct. It's pretty much a redirect to domainname.tdl:2095

From there they would put in their account (username[at]domain.tdl) and their password. Then they would have a choice of 3 webmail applications.. Each one does the job, they click on it and it might ask to authorize the email address and password one more time... They fill in the login again if necessary and then they're in.

Using a POP3 program is much more effective though. From the CPanel you can generate registry file which someone can install on their computer. It automatically puts the account into Outlook Express. They will have to put in their password though.

Alternatively, you can connect to the account manually much like you would to any other POP3 account

Again, if you need further instructions, I can provide.

actually, I use THUNDERBIRD and Imap. It seems to work wonderfully well!

And it allows me to have multiple accounts open at the same time in one email application.
