Someone used my contact info...?

My Domain: http://www.whois.sc/technoized.com
I was looking at that and noticed that the .info version was registerred, so I checked and look what I found:
http://www.whois.sc/technoized.info
If you look, whoever bought it used my contact info. I was wondering what I'm supposed to do, if anything.

First, I would recommend protecting the information on your domain in the whois registry. It'll be another fee, but you can't beat privacy protection when it comes to things like this. Secondly, try to find out which company registered the domain name. And thirdly, try to contact them and see if they can either get the IP address of the computer used to register it, or maybe revoke the registration based on false information.

You really should do something, you may be called in for questioning if someone uses that domain for unlawful purposes.

If the new domain has your contact info, then you can transfer it to yourself! You can even whine to the registrar that you forgot your password, and since you are the one listed in the contact form I bet there is a way to work around it :-)

That's pretty nifty, free domain courtesy of someone else's money. I'm sure that'll teach them to use their own contact info on the registration form.

I was talking with a Godaddy.com rep the other day and if you file a false name or wrongful information you can have your domain stripped from you NO QUESTIONS ASKED .. he was telling me bout a big p0rn guy using fake names cause he didn't want people to get his name .. he didn't opt for the $5 protection against his info and got all his sites taken away from him .. HAHAHAHA .. sucks for him ..

Dude .. soo transfer it to yourself .. dont' make the guy aware .. make him pay for his mistake the hardway .. oo and when you get the domain name .. put up a page for him to contact you ... and sell it back to him .. expensive .. mwahahhahahhahahaha ..

I have to agree, nothing rude about taking over a domain registered with your contact info. Serves them right for trying to impersonate you in the first place.

Honestly, you have two options at this point, do as everyone said, and get the domain transferred. Or, complain to the .info registrar about false registration and have it shut down. Trying to pick up traffic on a domain by using a different extension is not good, but blatantly copying the whois info is outrageous. I would probably take over the domain, since all of the info is in your name, you shouldn't have any problems. The email address is most important. All you have to do is submit a transfer request from surpassdomains, or any other domain registrar, and then approve it through your email addy, and you will own the domain in no time.

Of course, the downfall is that you have to pay the transfer fees to get it sent to your registrar of choice, then the yearly renewals as they come about.
