I've emailed tech support 3 times this week regarding this.. no reply.. so i'm posting it here.

Does anyone know how i access the IMAP 'spambox' that collects all the spam email that SpamAssassin filters? I've tried imap.scarbitten.co.uk (my domain is scarbitten.co.uk) but that doesn't work.. so i'm a bit muffed.

Thanks for any help.

I don't know what the hell is going on besides your tone.

When you sent your tickets, did you receive an automated response? If not, then your ticket likely wasn't received.

Quote:
Enabling the Spam Box feature will cause all mail marked by Spam Assassin as spam to be delivered to a separate mail box called 'spam'. You must use IMAP or Horde/IMP to check messages that are routed to this box.
Did you try using Horde and checking the 'spam' mailbox? Are you certain that you have received spam?

Well, i dunno what the hell is wrong with the online ticketing system, because i've did it 3 times, in 3 days, and go no 'email' response, but i do get allocated a ticket ID... so.. something is up.

I've emailed 'supportsurpasshosting.com' as well, with no response.

I haven't tried IMAP, other than telneting to the mail server on the IMAP port and seeing if I could do anything useful (and quickly learned that that isn't the way to learn the IMAP protocol, and so put "read IMAP RFC" on my todo list and went off to do other things), but I think I did figure out enough to answer the original question:

You don't use imap.yourdomain to access the imap server. You use mail.yourdomain, just like you use for POP. IMAP uses a different port than POP3, so the server can tell that it is IMAP you want.

BTW, the IMAP server will try to connect to port 113 on your machine. If your machine just ignores that, rather than actively rejecting it, it will take about a minute for the IMAP server to respond (it will have to timeout trying to connect). If you can configure your machine to reject the connection (or, I suppose, run an ident daemon....), you'll get a much faster respond.

Now teq is a bit muffed.

It depends on how you configure it but if you add /spam at the end of the username, you'll get the mailbox with the spam emails.

Please try to email support again.
