disappearing email

I had about 700 emails that were unread, disappear from my account, and there's no sign of them anywhere. I generally don't let my mailbox get that full, but with an ill family member and working twelve hours nights I hadn't gotten a chance to download them yet.

Any idea what happened?

Contact support. They probably did some 'cleaning up' and probably also have a backup or two.
