Well, after a couple of days working with surpass helpdesk, my email is now working. To make a long story short, they openned port 26 on their firewall and after making a few changes with outlook 2002 my email is working great. If you want to see if you can access 26, then telnet yourdomain.com 26 and you should get a welcome message. If you do then rock and roll with outlook.

My account now uses Port 26 for sending email. You can change yours to see if it works as follows (for Outlook Express):
1. Click Tools > Account Settings. 2. Select your email account and then click properties. 3. Click the Advanced tab. 4. Change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) to 26. Try sending a message. |

not sure if this was suggested but one other thing to try is replace mail.domain.com with the ip address for both pop3 and smtp.
additionally - what's the network setup like? is this not working from home or at work or what? because many ISPs lately have been locking down port 25. again, i offer these only as suggestions. as david says - very few support staff read the forums, hence a lack of a support staff response. |
