How do I install another Horde theme? The default one looks awful. I found one I like better on the Horde website and I downloaded it to my computer but I can't figure out how to install it.
And is it possible to make Horde open to the Inbox by default? I don't use Tasks or Calendar or Memos, so the opening page is essentially useless for me. Sorry if I'm missing obvious options here. My website is http://www.freearrow.com/ As a side note, I can't seem to figure out which server I'm on. The IP in the activation email I recieved is xx.xx.243.52. That IP does not seem to go with any of the servers listed on the server announcements forum. Again, I apologize if I'm missing something obvious. Webmaster is not my main occupation. Thanks, Michael |

I am not sure how to customize Horde to do something like that. Not sure it can be done considering the Horde installation is a community installation and it would effect every user if those changes were made.
The server you are on is Pico. It used to be at the old IP address that you were sent before, but it has since been moved to another one. I edited out the IP you listed as well. Please don't post full IPs around here. Just a little safety measure we like to take.

Is it possible then to install Horde and IMP separately on just my own account so that I can customize it? How difficult would that process be? I have had some experience with Linux but not too much from the web admin side of things.
But I would think that most other Horde users would also want to be able to choose between several themes instead of being stuck with the default... Ah, thanks. Pico. Gotcha. -- Michael |

Yes it would be very possible. I haven't looked at the setup of the horde/imp system before, but if you have some linux experience, I am sure it shouldn't be all that difficult. Give it a go if ya like and post your problems here, and we will help ya through it... But of course, you gotta be the guinea pig..

Ok, well, I guess I'm game, but I don't really know where to start.
All of the instructions talk about executing commands on the server computer...unzipping tarballs and doing things with Apache. How is this done? Telnet? I can't get into my site with telnet...when I "open freearrow.com" it says "Connecting To freearrow.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed". What am I doing wrong? (probably something obvious, i know...) I tried unzipping the distribution tarball of Horde into a horde/ subdirectory under /public_html/ but I don't think that's what I was supposed to do since things don't seem to be working properly. I open www.freearrow.com/horde/imp/login.php and put in my username and password and then I get all the following problems: "Warning: logmessage(Log.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/arrow001/public_html/horde/lib/Horde.php on line 186 Warning: logmessage(): Failed opening 'Log.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/arrow001/public_html/horde/lib/Horde.php on line 186 Fatal error: Undefined class name 'log' in /home/arrow001/public_html/horde/lib/Horde.php on line 187" But I don't think that doing /public_html/horde/ was the right approach to begin with. So how do I start? Like I said before, being a webmaster is not my forte...I'm a terribly ignorant guinea pig... ;-) BTW, isn't Fantastico supposed to install PHP applications for me? Why can't it install Horde/IMP? And I'm not sure that all of this trouble is worth it just for being able to change the theme. This seems like a rather annoying oversight on the part of Surpass. Why can't users be allowed to change themes? Why should I have to make a big deal out of this? |

I will agree with your statement, its probably going to be more trouble than it is worth for you to install horde. As for your install troubles, I see two critical steps I think you skipped according to the installation stuff. One you could do, the other I am not so certain of. If you have one particular theme you are trying to get installed, maybe email support and see what their policy is on installing themes by request. They may be willing to do this, but dont count on it.And with Fantastico, it actually has to be coded to install an application. It can't install any old thing that you find. That would be nice if it did, though.
