What do the following mail error messages REALLY mean?
Hello
I have been a reseller with Surpass for 2 years, read the forum fairly often and have found it helpful. Well here I am posting my first question. One of my clients gets these message alot from their email program (Outlook Express). Now what do they really mean? 1. Task 'mail.skclimited.net - Receiving' reported error (0x8004210A) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' 2. Task 'mail.skclimited.net - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted.* If this problem continues, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' 3. They say some of problems are clients telling them mail to them is undeliverable. It does not help if there clients do not send mail failure with headers. 4. I have started tracking all email problems with them by having them send me all problem emails with header information and have asked them to try to get the rejected mail headers that is sent back to clients. Any other suggestions? Thank you, Angela

I don't know about your first error message, but the second one is *usually* due to Norton, McAffee, or other Anti-virus, or firewall programs timing out while scanning mail as it's coming or going.
Either way, unless you can confirm that the server went down during this time (or they reconfigured their pop settings), it's typically a local computer issue. |
