I can't send mail from my client. I get the error: "451 Temporary local problem - please try later"
I can send without error from webmail, angusite.com (Horde) yet the recipient never receives message.
I've tried changing smtp port to 26 but I get same error.
I've sent and received mail without issue for weeks so I don't think my ISP is blocking me.
I tried sending mail to the account (angusite.com) from a different account but it gets bounced back.
Any ideas? I really need my mail working as my partner runs her eBay seller's account through the SH mail.
Thanks

If you can send via webmail, that means there is nothing wrong with the mailserver.

You are seeing a message "Temporary local problem" within your mail client.
That means just what it says, a local problem.
Try deleting the account from your mail account and recreating it. Then try using your ISPs outgoing mail server instead of mail.yourdomainhostedwithus.com

I've had the same problem on my Mac, using Microsoft Entourage. After a few days, I set it back to our server and it worked again. I could find nothing on it on the Entourage support site.
I also had email accounts elsewhere, and received the same message. It is just something going on with your mail client.

Thanks for the reply.
When the trouble first started I was thinking just what you said. However, when I send mail to my SH account from any other source, it gets bounced back.
I can send via Horde from a SH account to another SH account without error. Yet, the message is never received via Horde on the other account. Does that make sense?
(from x1surpassaccount.com to x2surpasshaccount.com via Horde)
Because I can't receive the message sent from the Horde interface and because I get a bounce back message while sending to the SH account from any other source tells me the problem is not local or with my client.
Here is a transcript of one of the bounce back messages:
----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to angusite.com.:
>>> DATA
<<< 550-mail10.atl.registeredsite.com [64.224.219.84] is currently not permitted to
<<< 550-relay through this server. Perhaps you have not logged into the pop/imap
<<< 550-server in the last 30 minutes or do not have SMTP Authentication turned on
<<< 550 in your email client.
550 5.1.1 <xxxangusite.com>... User unknown
<<< 503 valid RCPT command must precede DATA

Doesn't the fact I can't send to the account mean it's more than a client problem?

My client pops my account every minute so it's not that I haven't logged into my account for more than 30 minutes. How can it have anything to do with SMTP authentication if the message won't even be relayed to angusite.com?
I have not changed any settings. Everything worked fine until last night. I have tried your suggestion of deleting and recreating the account. I still get the same error. I've tried different clients on different computers. I've tried sending to angusite.com from 3 different sources using different ISPs. I get the same error (generated by the SH smtp server?) every time. I also get the same error message when trying to send to angusite.com (from the SH server again?)

I really don't think it has anything to do with my client(s) or my settings.

I think this needs to get sent over to support. This is definitely a server configuration issue.

You can't have it set to one minute. It needs to be five. You have been POPping so much.. looks like now it's blocking you temporarily. Thinks you're up to something.

Thanks
As per your suggestion it has been changed to 5 minutes. Oddly, I've had it set to one minute since I've opened the account almost 1 year ago. Never had a problem in the past.
Albeit, your suggestion does make a lot of sense.

Submitted ticket to support...Thanks Patrick

Problem resolved!
Surpass Help via aim (surpasslivez) fixed the problem. Said, "some entries were missing"
Thanks to teq for all the suggestions and to patrick too!

Back to the regularly scheduled program....
