Neomail : Pending Uninstallations

We are noticing more frequently that Neomail causes serious problems on our shared servers at times. Pair this with the fact that Neomail itself is basically a dead project that hasn't been updated at all in over two years and it's clear that we have a growingly insecure and unstable product on our hands. It seems that cPanel is going to stop including Neomail in the webmail lineup and we will have to begin streamlining all of our servers so that only the supported webmail programs are offered.

It is very understandable that many of you are very familiar and accustomed to using Neomail. It is personally my favorite webmail program, although it's outdated, I think it is fast and very simple to use. Of course I have only used it on servers with a few accounts located there. On shared servers I am quickly becoming aware that the smoothness I have been used to in the past is not always the case. "Hung up" Neo processes are becoming a regular issue on our servers. So when we need bug fixes, these fixes do not exist because they are not being developed.

Some customers that do use webmail have been warned of this already. Most are understanding that Neomail is being slowly phased out and are happy if at least one webmail program is available at least. Having more than three choices is sometimes not extremely important them. Of course, some of you do not even use webmail at all, maybe you've never even used Neomail.

So this is just a heads up that Neomail may be removed from your server soon. Please inform your clients of this information. New servers that are launched from now on will not have Neomail enabled from the start.

If you would like your Neomail address book imported into the Horde address book, please contact support to request it.
