I sent in a ticket yesterday about the same thing. I asked about opening port 198 or 587 as the non standard alternate SMTP port for SH113. The response I got was that they use port 26 as the alternate on all their server.

While port 26 is indeed open and will work for me (my ISP only blocks port 25 at the present time) however, recently some large ISP's are starting to block port 26 as well so it will be a problem for quite a number of users.

yes... port 26 is blocked by my ISP. I just requested port 198 be open for sh110 and got this response from support for ticket#[#OUX-172803]: Alternate SMPT port for outgoing email

Hello,

Unfortunately, we cannot open another port for this. You will have to use your ISP's SMTP servers to send mail. It will still appear to be from your domain.

Regards,
Joe

Since I know they have opened up port 198 on shared and reseller servers, it is confusing that this is still a 'hit-or-miss' proposal.

Yes it's kind of strange, especially since Kayla herself stated that they decided on using port 198.

I just got a response from support:
------------
We have configured the port 587 as the alternate port for smtp. Please do try now and in case of any issues please let us know for further assistance.
------------
I checked and it is open on SH110

Nothing has changed on SH113, the alternate port is still only 26 and neither 198 or 587 are open.

Is SSL enabled on ports 198 or 587, for encrypted email?

I'd been using port 995 for a year and a half, but it appears to have been shut down yesterday.

Thanks.

Your issue is different from what this thread is discussing. Port 995 is used for SSL connections to POP3 (used to download received emails to the client). The port 198 and 587 that this thread is dealing with relates to SMTP, which in the context of this thread deals with the email user sending outbound email messages. So I would highly doubt (though it's technically possible) that a secure POP3 connection would work on those ports. Of course you could always try and stick the port numbers in your client to see if it works.

As for port 995 stopping to function, check that nothing as changed on your end that could affect it (firewall, client settings, etc.). If you have changed nothing, you could submit a ticket and ask tech support about it.

SH120

What ports are currently opened on SH120 ?

Can I get 198 (or 587?) open as well?
