Anyway to stop SPAM?
I get between 30 - 100 (sometimes more) spam email a day.
Today i got 160. I have SpamAssassin enabled which has helped alot, but im still getting lots. Is there anything i can do to reduce it more? Or do i just have to delete them as i get them. I cant block the mail because they are sent with a random email address. Thanks -Stuart |

Yea all you can do is attempt to block as much as possible. Look for the key words in the bodies and subjects that can be used in filters and if you notice common IP's that seem to be used just for that purpose block them.
It is a major problem and the spammers have so many ways to get around the blocks.

Few tips:
1- If you show your email in your site, use some kind of javascript to prevent spiders from finding it 2- Turn off your catch-all account. A lot of spammers just send bogus emails to domains, so if you have your default account set up, you'll get them all 3- Use BoxTrapper along with Spam-Assassin. It's a great tool to stop SPAM to reach your inbox 4- As a last resort, just change your email address. Sometimes it's the best thing to do, once your email is already on the hands of spammers all over the world. Good luck! ![]()

There is a spamassassin faq that I wrote around here somewhere...
IN addition, I use a rule that takes any spam that scores over certain points (7, I think...) and routes it to a separate mailbox. I called mine mailtrap. That mailbox I check every day so I can move false positives to a HAM folder to train Spam Assassin, and the rest go to that accounts SPAM folder to get learned as SPAM. the spam asssasin training process is essential. As proof, I get less than 4 spams per day (except when spamd crashes...) in my inbox, but over 160 per day in the maitrap account, and less than 4 false positives in any given day... John
