trash folder emptied?

I just noticed that both of my email accounts' Trash folders have been emptied, not by my own doing. I'm going to guess this happened somewhat recently.

I double checked in neomail that purging was not enabled. I typically use Outlook Express, webmail on occassion.

Not a huge deal since it was the trash, but I like to keep my trash for a while just in case. Any ideas what happened here?

I have the underpants gnomes song as my ringtone

Do you have outlook using POP3 or IMAP?

Besides the underpants gnomes there is really no way that email can magically disappear. Most of the time it is POP3 causing the problem.

For some reason I hate POP3 with a passion, I only trust IMAP now.

I'm using IMAP. Haven't changed any settings. The folders emptied themselves again. I have another email IMAP service setup in outlook express, and its deleted items folder doesn't empty itself

Alright, I just noticed that the oldest 3 or 4 emails that I moved to the Trash since the last time it was emptied have dissappeared sometime between yesterday and today. I've been checking every day to see what happens. I'm convinced that something has changed on the server. I'm getting tired of the tech support telling me to check my outlook express settings. I've had it set up in Outlook Express for a year... I didn't just recently go into the settings and setup any auto-purging or anything
