Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 535 Inco

Hi I"m runing a fresh install of phpnuke 6.6. When I first set it up the test registration worked fine. it sent me the email and had no problems. now when I try to register I get these 2 errors:

General Error

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 535 Incorrect authentication data

DEBUG MODE

Line : 40
File : /home/vampirec/public_html/writing/includes/smtp.php

here is line 40 in File : /home/vampirec/public_html/writing/includes/smtp.php:

message_die(GENERAL_ERROR, "Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: $server_response", "", __LINE__, __FILE__);

any idea what's going on? I have hte smtp server set up in forum configurations at mail.vampirecommunity.com with my username and password provided. this is the last thing I need to do to get my site back up and running so any help would be appreciated.

try using it without anything in the server name, username or password - as this will default to the localhost - that may fix your problem.

This was a rampit bug within php-nuke 6.5 and it sounds like they have not fixed it yet.

woohoo that worked. thanks. at first I left the fields blank and I got an error telling me that it couldn't connect so I put localhost in the smtp field and it worked. viola!! thanks again!
