I'm using MAC OSX (10.2.8) and cannot receive email from a surpass account in POP mode.

Mail Client: Apple Mail 1.2.5

My connection is DSL.

I'm having no problems with non-surpass accounts.

Any assistance from fellow Mac Users would be great!

Thanks!

It doesn't have to be a mac specific problem.
Anyway, kayla uses a mac so if it is a mac problem she will know what to do.

It might be just wrong settings on your end.

I use a Mac. I have several domains hosted by Surpass. I have no problems receiving nor sending emails to my accounts using POP.

Give us more information as to your error.

-correction- I have one domain with email issues.

I use OS X and mail.app. Make sure your User Name is your entire email address. Incoming and Outgoing mail server are the same (in my case "mail.oldweakandpathetic.com").

If you have any questions about the Server Settings or Advanced tab, let me know. As I recall, they work with normal defaults.

Good luck!

Particulars are as follows (this baffled support also):

-Go to Mail > Preferences> Accounts

Account Type: POP
Description: memydomain.com
Email address: memydomain.com
Full Name: me

Incoming Mail Server: mail.mydomain.com
Username: memydomain.com
Password: my password

Outgoing Mail Server: mail.mydomain.com

(Click options)

Server Port: 25 (default)
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), left unchecked
User Name: memydomain.com
Password: my password

OK, can send mail, but cannot receive it in account type POP.

This baffled 3 of the good folks in support.

Mail is functioning for all my non-surpass accounts.

Any ideas?

One thing, for your account username, you don't need the yourdomain.com Your account username is sufficient to log into your account.

Two. How long has this been going on? Have you EVER been able to receive your mail?

(Here's the silly question that I just HAVE to ask.) Is there mail in your account to be downloaded?

Support suggested otherwise, although it hasn't worked either way.

Not from Surpass in the POP setting. Have been able to receive it using IMAP.

Sometimes it is the silliest things that we overlook, but yes, there is email there to download, albeit just test messages.

I was able to get the email using Eudora (which I loathe), but can not get it in Apple Mail.

Q04

PS: I tried it as you suggested and received the follow error pop up:

There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account “me” or try again.

The server error encountered was: The user name and password specified in Mail preferences were not accepted by the server

OK.

It seems that this has been narrowed down to a problem with your Apple mail since Eudora is able to access and retrieve from your account.

There was a notice once that you might try using "+" or "%" instead of the "" in usernameyourdomain.com. See if that makes any difference.

You say Apple Mail. Is that the same as the default Mail.app?

Have you deleted and recreated the account on your Apple?

Tried that as well. The server rejects it.

Yup.

In the MAIL program? Yes, more times than I can count.

Like I said, I'm currently able to send & receive with another host using MAIL, but can only send with surpass.

The version of MAIL is 1.2.5 (v552/553) and my OS is 10.2.8.
