I deleted my cron job until I can figure this out.

Thanks for the info. I have out of the blue started to get slammed with spam.

I have got the headers marked but trying to get step 2 to filter and want them to go into "spam" folder not the trash at this time. Not quite ready for the full bit bucket yet

Under filters what do I put for the destination or should that be done in horde instead?

Thanks again for the guide. I will move on to the other steps as I get more comfortable with all this and am sure I will have more questions.

matt -

what you do depends on what mail configuration your server is running.

There are some related threads if your server has "maildir". The scripts and such in the beginning of this thread only support MBOX.

One more question. Setting up the filter in cPanel to send to discard will the messages go to my trash or just gone for good? If gone for good how do I get over the concern that something I might have wanted is gone? For example if I placed an order with a site.

I am using a filter that Cowboy wrote - also in these forums - that checks message scores.

If the score is over 5 but under 20 (I think), it goes to a special mailbox. I check that mailbox every day for 'false positives', which I train as HAM. The others are moved to a SPAM folder for further learning (this increases the scores that that type of message would get).

Search for threads by Cowboy with FILTER in the subject.
