Certificate Error - Thunderbird
Every time I send an email, I get a security error:
"Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch" "You have attempted to establish a connection with "mail.postbaroque.com". However, the security certificate presented belongs to "saprus.dizinc.com". It is possible, though unlikely that someone may be trying to intercept your communication with this website." Every time, I click "OK" to accept the certificate, and the mail goes through OK, but I still get the warning the next time I try to send a mail. I am using Thunderbird. |

Try changing the mail settings in Thunderbird to not use SSL for the connection.

The certificate is probably valid. It's just for the servers name, not your domain name. I get the same 'error' in Thunderbird. Thunderbird is just complaining because the cert wasn't actually issued for your domain name. But as long as whoever the cert was issued to matches the server it's really on, things are fine. Somewhat annoying to have to constantly click OK but it stops asking after a while, and I'd rather have a secure connection so it's fine.
BTW I use Thunder Tray to allow me to minimize to tray, a nice lil app.

yes, i knew it was just because the names didn't match; even though, it seems like there should be some way to add the surpass server name to the 'trusted certificates' or something in thunderbird. i looked on the mozilla forums, and the answers there are to ask the certificate servers. i guess i will have to keep clicking 'ok' to accept the certificate each time.
i will take a look for thunder tray, thanks for the tip. |

Domain Mismatch Fix for Thunderbird
This post is super old but I came across a fix to stop Thunderbird from complaining about mis-matched domains.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2131 It will add a check box to each mismatched domain allowing you to prevent (on a case by case basis) which domain mismatch you don't want to see anymore. Works great.
