finding port infomation???

I am trying to set up my mail in outlook... I have never had a problem before when I had other websites but this is my first time with surpass hosting and I have already noticed a few things that are different so I guess it is best to just ask.

ANYWAYS....

I tried to set up my mail.... smtp and pop servers to mail.mydomain.com
BUT it doesn't work.... it says to change my port settings by clicking advanced... blah blah... my port settings are automatically set (and always have been set) to:

pop3: 110
smtp: 25

How do I find out the port settings? or set the other information so it just works.

There are no port settings that you should have to change.

Be sure that your username is yourusername[at]domain.com

If you just put yourusername, it won't successfully check the mail account.

Besides that, mail.yourdomain.com is the POP and the SMTP address.

With those 3 things, plus your password entered correctly, there shouldn't be any problems. Let us know what happens from here.

EDIT: I forgot this board had the spam filter... I'm sure you know this, but I just wanted to make clear that [at] means the at symbol. :-x

or you can use the + symbol instead of the "swirly A"

but you must include the entire email address with domain name or you'll get NOTHING.

Also, your ISP may block port 25. You'll notice that you have everything set fine in outlook, but you can only GET email.

AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

OK now it works but I am getting 5 copies of each 1 email..... is there settings for this??? I send doubles every now and then on my old site but never had this happen

Also i sent responses from each of the addresses and none went through yet... I know that emails usually send and receive almost right away.... and they said they were sent in outlook they didnt get moved to my waiting to send box.....

I don't remember setting up email accounts to ever be this difficult

Does the surpass server have any problems with AOL??? I know AOL doesnt accept mail from certain servers that provide services to any paid to read or online advertisment places (I don't know if surpass does provide to them but I used to own a PTR site so I know the problems) I got 1 email to and from my aol account ok but thats it... I tried sending from my webmaster email to my other box (both on this new domain) and it went ok.... ? not sure if it is something with AOL or otherwise...

I don't use Outlook but Thunderbird, but there should be a setting somewhere in the Account Settings...Server settings...Leave Message on Server...(under this)...is the box checked For at most X days? If so uncheck it.

So those of us that have port 25 blocked are SOL?
Can the port be changed?
