looks like i was...

looks like i was recently hit by a malware attack on my mediatemple hosting. i have over 30 domains on that server, and it looks as if this is a server-wide issue. my current host basically made a "it's not our problem" type of statement, and are recommending that i PAY another company HUNDREDS of dollars a year to fix it.

so my question to you, if i was hosted by surpass, and had a malware attack on every single domain of mine, what would/do you do?

currently: i have...

currently: i have 45+ domains, subdomains (some primarily redirecting subdomains though) hosted at mediatemple. most domains are wordpress driven sites. some databases are pretty freakin' large :) i think i'm weighing down my current hosting solution too much, as my sites do have a bad latency problem as of late.

what i'm looking for: obviously a host that will support my current situation (without the latency issues, of course). but also, since i do web development, i create new sites on a regular basis. i also host some client sites, but reselling hosting isn't a major part of my business. i'm picky with administration/cpanel user interfaces and customer service promptness. :) i need functionality in my admin area, but in an easy to understand manner. (my background is in design. not so much with server admin stuff. but i know just enough to be dangerous.) i also want to continue using my hosting to create an FTP transfer between myself and clients for large files. (so having space, as well as being able to create ftp users on the fly is important)

i'm not sure if i would be better off having a "reseller" account, or just going with a virtual private right away. i'm a power user, yes, but i'm not sure if i'm that much of a power user. also, how easy/difficult is switching my service between those two options? (if it's even possible :) )

can someone break down these two options, or recommend a better option, for me in layman's terms?
