Maintain only One (1), user database.

I don't see the point of having 3 types of user logins. One for the normal web hosts that only have one part of the server, then you have another login box for people how have VPS, then another for people who have a dedicated server. Then you also have a login system for people who are from before May 22nd, 2006. Oh come on guys!

This makes it really hard to login to your system and order a different level of service from you.

Believe it or not, there is method to our madness. We certainly didn't put them up because we enjoy confusing you guys...

This is the shared/reseller hosting billing system.

I believe that this is done due to the way that VPS accounts are provisioned. Tying them into our standard billing system was not an option.

This is our custom billing platform, which is in place because the shared/reseller system (ModernBill) is absolutely useless for managing dedicated server and colocation clients.

This is the old billing system (Autopilot) which is being phased out. Our Accounting team has been working on moving users from one system to the other for a number of years now, and expects to have all the transfers completed soon. Once that's done, you won't be burdened with this billing system ...

I don't understand. If you want to order a VPS, you log in to the VPS system. If you want a dedicated server, you log in to DECC. Sounds pretty easy to me.

We have something like 50k active user accounts. So migrating isn't simple. Right now we are at about 70% done with the clients previous to May 2006 and getting them migrated to our standard shared/reseller system. Next on the agenda is VPS which will be integrated into the DECC system in about a month. Eventually all clients will be in our own purpose built system, but the help desk login will always be separate.

I think there are more important concerns at hand than surpass managing one single database for several scripts.
