First commercial web host

My name is Brad. I've been fooling around with linux for quite some time, and have hosted a few web sites myself on my cable connection. My photo gallery has become popular enough that the cable modem became too slow. I signed up with the $1 plan and registered a domain, and was put on SH112. Seems ok, but a bit slow with some database errors in gallery2. I have to admit, I would have a heart attack if I saw a server load of 6+ on my machines at home, but than again, they are single processor machines, and (at least SH112) appears to have 4 cpus. Only time will tell.

Well remember your in a shared environment and the server load is counting everyones account on the server.

Not slow at all for me, every page seems to load instantly. Surpass servers usually aren't overloaded since they suspend accounts that overuse/abuse CPU cycle

I found out the slowness was due to the "high speed internet" here at the VA hospital where I work. The database errors seem to have gone away. I don't know why. I have set up a script on my home server to get the load from this one, and it doesn't look too bad. Big spike this morning, but I suspect the machine was running a backup or something. So far so good.

Yes this morning there was a backup going on, I think it was not only the server but a tech was transferring in a few accounts from other servers. I was monitoring it during that time.

Welcome aboard, Brad.

I like that beer bus photo in your gallery. I wonder how they would keep the beer cold....

A friend of mine posted that while testing some gallery space I gave him. It sure looks like a cool way to get loaded!

(It looks like he removed it, so I'll post the image here
