About Time...

It is about time I introduced myself. I have been lurking around here for about a year now just random chiming in or asking questions or winning the weekly forum hunt.

Well, where to be begin. I am Matt Rydzik, a freshman (well soon to be sophomore) at Penn State majoring in Meteorology. I am originally from Endwell, New York, a small town in Upstate New York near the city of Binghamton.

I have been doing web design since I was in 5th grade. It has always been a fascination of mine. In 8th grade I took my passion for Roller Coasters and Amusement Parks to another level when I joined the staff of COASTER-net.com. I began not doing much around the site, but as I realized my web talents and my php ability I eventually became Vice-President. Since that time I have completely overhauled the site converting it from a manually updated static html page to a completely dynamic php/mysql driven site. This allows for the staff to make updates without being intimidated by the html.

I have also recently become involved with Penn States Campus Weather Service where I joined the web committee. We are currently working a redesign of the site ( http://cws.met.psu.edu ) which hasn’t been touched since 2001. Along with the redesign which myself and another student have been working on I have taken on a pet project of coding a forecast verification system. This system takes all the weather forecasts that members enter on the website and automatically does some statistical calculations based on the observed values for a forecast period.

When not working on websites I enjoy mountain biking and camping.

Currently I own a dedicated server here at Surpass where http://coaster-net.com is hosted along with some clients I have picked up over the years.

I guess I should really get back to writing an English paper due Tuesday.

Hey Matt, welcome to Surpass. I imagine we could talk for hours. I am an avid Weather nut as well. I have my own weather station, and in addition I am a coaster nut as well! I live only three miles from Michigan's Adventure so I have season passes to there for my whole family. My fav coaster is Shivering Timbers.
