shXXX - shared hosting server passXXX - reseller hosting server reseller servers are prone to more abuse. small resellers will sell accounts to any joker who will signup with a credit card, not much fraud checking is done with newer resellers. enter abuse <windows ta da> jokers looking to spam, exploit servers sign up with smaller resellers who will accept their account and not turn it down because their ip signup location is 9000 miles away from the cc billing address. its rough at times being on a reseller server and difficult at times for smaller resellers trying to get their business started. we can only do so much while maintaining the freedoms and flexibilities resellers require. a lot of issues we must resolve as they arise (server abuse and high server loads). yes, we have a ton of preventative proactive measures in place, mod_sec, phpsuexec, etc, etc, but theres only so much without constraining accounts. we are always working on innovative approaches and are always working on improving existing mechanisms. so if you can, opt for a more isolated solution (vps or dedicated) and you will not have to worry much about other clients abusing server resources and the like. you'll just have to worry about your accounts. also, 600 domains on a reseller server is not out of this world wacky :o)

Oh, I know. Mine has had around the same number of domains since I've been on it. Some of the websites are nothing more than a one page thing with nothing going on, kind of like my mysstiewolfestar.com one.
Other's have more going on. But yeah, if I had a mission critical ecommerce business site.. it wouldn't be on a shared server. Anyhow, I think we've hijacked this thread enough LOL.

I agree, I used to support servers with over 300 accounts, and well over 1000 domains. One server a few years back had a Celeron processor and was still going strong.

I remember seeing somewhere that subdomains also show up in that number of domains on a server
